He was called Dr Daddy-0 and credited with
having tutored several white dj's
who used the name Poppa Stoppa.

He said he had to change his name to
make listeners think he was white.

Worked at WJMR, WYLD, WMRY, WWEZ, & WJBW.

Born in Chicago.

Both parents were college-educated at Wilberforce University in Chicago, but his father could only find work as a porter or a stock room worker due to racial barriers.

Attended Lindblom High School in Chicago, a predominately white school.

Attended Chicago Art Institute.

He taught art at Dillard University in New Orleans starting in 1936.

Wrote for the Louisiana Weekly.

Radio show was called "Jivin' with Jax" (it was sponsored Jax Beer).

Initially left radio disgusted with the so-called Jim Crow laws, then worked in sales at the Jackson Brewing Company. They needed someone to host a radio show that would make their product appeal to the black communnity. So he took the job, doing it as "Doctor Daddy-O". This show was broadcast out of the New Orleans Hotel.
